His crew never could quite understand how he could face this life with such equanimity--how he kept such a serene look on his face despite the raiding, the looting, the dodging the cannonfire and the British. A pirate's life is nowhere to be relaxed, but relaxed he was. Perhaps that is why they made him Captain.
