Book Club: Week Eight

"Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? Told in journal entries, this is the heart-pounding story of Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all--hope--in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world."
Introduction
I would like to start off by saying that I really rather enjoyed this book. The idea of the story was quite interesting to me, and I think the reason I enjoyed it so much was because I could really connect to it. I felt like I lived beside this family, and when I would put down the book, I took me a minute or two to grasp reality again.

***SPOILERS***
So what did you think of Life As We Knew It? Nothing seemed all that phenomenal about the book itself, but for some reason I just really enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I just wasn't able to put it down. Once it got going, you had to read on to the next journal entry for the sake of knowing whether or not someone had died! I'm really glad they all made it, though I was certain the story was going to end with Miranda being there to fend for herself. As her family started to get better, I then decided that she was going to die on her journey to the post office. End of story. But then I realized she couldn't be recalling this trek to the post office if she was dead. On a side note, while I was searching for the description for this book, as featured at the top of this post, I realized this book is a trilogy. Goodness gracious. I'm glad because I want to know how this chaotic scenario is resolved, but I'm sad because I probably won't get to read them until this book club is finished. Have you read the whole series? Don't spoil anything for me!
Summary
Overall, I rate this book a 9 out of 10. It kept me locked into the story the entire time, it wasn't confusing, and I really felt like I was witnessing everything take place. Filled with suspense, this book is a great summer read... though I probably wouldn't recommend reading it while locked up in the winter!
